Yann Gboho officially left Toulouse FC for Coventry City on Friday, three days after the summer transfer window closed, in a deal whose administrative resolution took an unusually long time to finalize. Both clubs simultaneously confirmed the operation, valued at over €15 million.

The 22-year-old Franco-Ivorian winger was not included in Toulouse’s squad for the trip to Lille on Thursday evening (0-1 defeat), a sign that his departure was imminent but pending regulatory approval. According to Foot Mercato, an agreement had indeed been reached at the last minute between the two clubs before the market closed on Tuesday evening, but its validation depended on proof that all required documents had been submitted within the deadlines imposed by the authorities.

This late confirmation ends several weeks of speculation around the player, whose name had circulated in connection with MLS and Olympique Lyonnais — a club that ultimately opted for Reims’ Keito Nakamura. Gboho joins Coventry City, promoted to the Premier League and now managed by Frank Lampard, in what constitutes one of the most significant sales in recent Toulouse FC history.
