Galtier names all-PSG trio for Ballon d'Or, with Fabián Ruiz leading the charge
Eleven days before the ceremony in London, former PSG manager Christophe Galtier makes a case for a Paris podium: Fabián Ruiz, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with the Spaniard as his favourite.
Christophe Galtier believes the next Ballon d’Or will remain in Paris Saint-Germain’s hands. Eleven days before the ceremony scheduled for 26 October in London, the former PSG manager, now in position at Neom in Saudi Arabia, has given his predictions to Le Parisien.
“If we look at the trophies won, I would name Fabián Ruiz,” he says, before expanding his podium. “If we focus on matches, I think Ousmane Dembélé, even though he hasn’t played much, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have been very impressive. One of these three players deserves to win the Ballon d’Or.”
In this trio, it is the Spanish midfielder who stands out in Galtier’s eyes. “If there is one player who allows the collective to be so well-oiled, it’s him. He sees everything before others, he compensates for movements, he feels the game,” he explains.
The question of succession to Ousmane Dembélé — the defending champion — thus arises with an unexpected answer: the title holder himself features among the candidates cited, alongside Georgian Kvaratskhelia, the revelation of PSG’s season, and Fabián Ruiz, the discreet but decisive architect of PSG’s play.
