Gabriel’s Instagram reversal raises more questions than answers

Gabriel, widely regarded as one of United’s most exciting young talents, alarmed supporters earlier in September when he wiped his Instagram profile entirely. Whether the posts were archived and restored or recovered within Instagram’s 30-day deletion window is unclear, but the move has done little to settle speculation about his future.

Vieira reveals secret Ferguson approach

On a separate front, Senegal head coach Patrick Vieira has admitted he once held a secret meeting with Ferguson during his time as Arsenal’s midfield cornerstone. Vieira spent nine years at Arsenal between 1996 and 2005, winning three Premier League titles and four FA Cups, and was a central figure in the fierce rivalry between the two clubs — most notably through his running battles with United captain Roy Keane.

Despite that antagonism, Vieira has now confirmed that Ferguson wanted to bring him to Old Trafford and that the pair met privately to discuss the possibility. Vieira indicated Ferguson had envisioned pairing him with Keane in central midfield, a partnership that would have reshaped one of English football’s most storied rivalries.

United’s form provides the backdrop

The news emerges during a break that Michael Carrick’s side will have welcomed. In five Premier League matches this season, United have beaten Ipswich Town 5-2 but suffered defeats to Hull City and Manchester City, and dropped points in draws against Everton and Fulham.
