Free-agent Martial offered to Everton and five Premier League clubs after Monterrey exit

Anthony Martial is being actively offered to a string of Premier League clubs following his release from Mexican side Monterrey, with Everton among the sides contacted about a potential free transfer, according to TEAMtalk.

Intermediaries have approached Everton, Newcastle, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Leeds and Sunderland on behalf of the 30-year-old, citing his willingness to return to England. The former Manchester United forward became a free agent in June after a disrupted spell in Liga MX that ended earlier than planned.

Everton’s interest is born partly out of necessity. David Moyes’ side were left with Thierno Barry as their only recognised senior striker after the summer transfer window closed, having allowed Beto to join Fiorentina and failed to land Monaco’s Folarin Balogun — a deal that collapsed when the United States international rejected the move at the eleventh hour.

Martial spent nine years at Old Trafford, scoring 63 goals and registering 33 assists in 209 Premier League appearances before leaving on a free transfer in 2024. A brief stint at AEK Athens preceded his move to Monterrey in September 2025, but his time in Mexico was derailed by a dislocated shoulder suffered in February during a 1-0 win over Club Leon. He was stretchered off in severe pain and made only one further appearance — 60 minutes against Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions Cup on March 18 — before being left out of the squad for Monterrey’s remaining five fixtures and ultimately released.

Martial is one of several high-profile players currently without a club. Former United team-mate Jadon Sancho remains a free agent after leaving Old Trafford this summer, while Yves Bissouma, Riyad Mahrez, Karim Benzema and Wilfried Zaha are also unattached.
