France Women Face Morocco in Sochaux Ahead of 2027 World Cup
The France women's team, qualified for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, will play three matches during a November-December gathering, including a France-Morocco fixture on December 5 in Sochaux.
The France women’s team will host Morocco on December 5 in Sochaux as part of a three-match gathering that officially launches preparations for the 2027 World Cup (June 24 – July 25 in Brazil).
Laurent Bonadei’s Bleues secured qualification by topping their European group, despite a disappointing double-header against the Netherlands: a 2-1 defeat in Breda on April 14, followed by a 1-1 draw in Auxerre four days later. A two-point advantage over the Oranje was enough to secure their ticket.
Before facing Morocco, France will take on Venezuela on November 27 in Nancy, then an opponent yet to be determined on December 1. Nine warm-up matches are scheduled in total before the tournament kicks off, giving Bonadei a broad squad review around his core players: Griedge Mbock (captain since Wendie Renard was sidelined), Selma Bacha, Grace Geyoro, Sakina Karchaoui, Kadidiatou Diani, Clara Matéo, Melvine Malard and Marie-Antoinette Katoto.
The Sochaux clash takes on special significance: the two nations could meet in the group stage of the World Cup, with the draw scheduled for December 11 in Rio de Janeiro. The Lionnes of the Atlas, semi-finalists of the last Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, arrive with a new coach: Éric Blahic, former assistant to Corinne Diacre and then Hervé Renard with the France team between 2020 and 2024.
