Florentino Perez promised, during a television appearance on Horizonte Cuatro, to submit a €150 million offer as early as Tuesday to recruit “one of the best players from a Champions League team”. The statement comes two days before Real Madrid’s presidential election, in which the outgoing leader seeks to retain his position against rival Enrique Riquelme.

Perez refused to reveal the name of the targeted player, but provided multiple clues through elimination. The offer concerns neither Michael Olise, nor Erling Haaland, nor Harry Kane, nor Jéremy Doku. He especially clarified that it is “not a Premier League player”, directing speculation toward other European leagues.

The outgoing president compared the profile sought to those of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaká, evoking a young “galáctico”, midfielder or forward. “This transfer will be a record offer for the club,” he insisted, adding that the amount could exceed €150 million in transfer fees.

The Spanish press points toward Paris Saint-Germain. Several PSG players are mentioned: Vitinha and Joao Neves for midfield, but also Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in attack, the latter corresponding more closely to the announced budget. Doué had recently reaffirmed his attachment to the capital club.

Perez also confirmed other arrivals in case of re-election: defender Ibrahima Konaté, available at the end of his Liverpool contract, fullback Denzel Dumfries, as well as José Mourinho as head coach. The latter publicly supported Perez despite his ongoing contract with Benfica.

His opponent Riquelme had opened the bidding the day before by promising the signings of Rodri and Erling Haaland, committing to reimburse socios’ contributions in case of failure. The vote will take place Tuesday.
