England fans 'completely take over Texas' after 4-2 opening win over Croatia
England began their 2026 World Cup campaign with a 4-2 victory over Croatia at Dallas Stadium on June 18, with American sports influencer Casey Settleman declaring the Three Lions supporters the most impressive fan experience he has ever witnessed.
England opened their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a 4-2 victory over Croatia at Dallas Stadium on June 18, with the Three Lions’ travelling support making as big an impression on locals as the result itself.
Casey Settleman, a sports influencer with more than 30,000 Instagram followers who documents his experiences as a football fan, attended the match and offered a swift verdict on the England supporters. “First impression of the England fans here in Dallas… This is going to be insane,” he told his audience.
Settleman said the England contingent had “completely taken over Texas” and predicted it would be “by far the best fan experience” of his 34-game World Cup journey. He had arrived at the tournament intending to stay sober for health reasons, but admitted the atmosphere proved “too infectious” to resist. “So I’m getting on the booze, and I’m joining the England fans for the day,” he said.
The influencer also spoke to between 10 and 12 England supporters, asking what he needed to do to qualify as a true Three Lions fan. Their collective answer: “Get on the beers.”
Settleman’s post quickly gathered more than 10,000 likes, with fans responding enthusiastically. “England and Scotland fans are the best from Europe by far,” wrote one. Another added: “If both Scotland and England get past the quarterfinals, there will be no beer left in the US.”
The win over Croatia — England’s first match of the tournament — continues the nation’s pursuit of a first World Cup title since 1966. Their next group fixture is against Ghana on Tuesday, June 23.
