Joselyne Edwards has been named the backup fighter for the UFC bantamweight title bout between Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes at UFC 334 on 14 November at Madison Square Garden in New York, according to reporter Guilherme Cruz.

Edwards (18-6) will weigh in alongside Harrison and Nunes as a potential replacement should either fighter be unable to compete on the night. The Panamanian has built a compelling case for a title shot in her own right, winning five consecutive bouts — four by stoppage — most recently outpointing Norma Dumont by unanimous decision. The run is a sharp turnaround from a 4-4 start across her first eight UFC appearances.

Harrison (19-1) defends the bantamweight title against Hall of Famer Nunes (23-5) in the co-main event. The matchup carries significant history: Nunes came out of retirement in 2023 to arrange a comeback against her former American Top Team teammate Harrison, but the fight was postponed after Harrison suffered a neck injury requiring surgery, pushing the bout back from UFC 324 in January.

With the Harrison-Nunes card already carrying considerable weight — a returning legend against the reigning champion — Edwards’ presence as backup ensures the title picture remains intact regardless of any last-minute setbacks. Should she be called upon, it would represent a rapid ascent for a fighter who has quietly assembled one of the division’s more impressive recent streaks.
