Edwards named backup as Harrison-Nunes bantamweight title fight nears at UFC 334
Joselyne Edwards will serve as the backup fighter for the UFC women's bantamweight championship bout between Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes at UFC 334 on 12 November at Madison Square Garden, New York.
Joselyne Edwards has been confirmed as the backup fighter for the UFC women’s bantamweight title clash between Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes at UFC 334 on 12 November at Madison Square Garden in New York, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed.
The highly anticipated 135-pound championship bout was originally scheduled for January but was pushed back ten months after Harrison was forced to undergo neck surgery. Nunes, a former two-division UFC champion who came out of retirement to face her ex-teammate Harrison, chose to wait for Harrison’s recovery rather than compete for an interim title against a different opponent.
Edwards earned the backup role on the back of a five-fight winning streak inside the UFC dating to late 2024. During that run she finished four opponents — two in the first round — before rounding out the streak with a decision victory over Norma Dumont.
Harrison vs. Nunes serves as the co-main event of UFC 334, which is headlined by Ciryl Gane taking on Josh Hokit for the undisputed heavyweight championship.
