Raul Asencio has been found guilty of drink-driving at his hearing and sentenced to a €14,400 fine, along with an eight-month driving ban.

The incident dates back to August 16, when the Real Madrid defender was stopped by police while driving his Porsche during a traffic check in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in the south-west of Gran Canaria. According to newspaper Canarias7, his alcohol level reached 0.90 mg/l, more than three times the legal limit of 0.25 mg/l.

The 23-year-old player’s legal troubles do not end there. Asencio is due to appear before the courts next week in a separate and far more serious matter. A product of Real Madrid’s academy, he is being prosecuted alongside three former teammates from the club’s reserve team for “child pornography”. The four men are accused of recording and distributing sexual images without the consent of two young women, one of whom was a minor, in June 2023 in the Canary Islands.
