Yael Trepy hospitalized in intensive care after losing consciousness in swimming pool in Sardinia
French striker Yael Trepy, 20, from Cagliari is hospitalized in intensive care in Sassari after nearly drowning in a private villa swimming pool in Sardinia on Sunday. The club is monitoring his health closely.
Yael Trepy, 20-year-old French striker under contract with Cagliari Calcio, has been hospitalized in intensive care at Santissima Annunziata civil hospital in Sassari since Sunday, following an accident in a private swimming pool in Sardinia.
According to Corriere dello Sport and La Repubblica, the player lost consciousness in the deep end of a villa swimming pool where he was with relatives in the northeast of the island. He was airlifted urgently to Sassari.
In a statement published Monday, the Sardinian club confirmed the hospitalization and stated it was “in permanent contact with the health facility and the footballer’s family.” “All thoughts of Cagliari Calcio go to Yael and his loved ones,” added the Rossoblù, who requested that the player’s and his family’s privacy be respected, committing to communicate any updates as soon as they become available.
Formed at US Créteil-Lusitanos in the Paris region, Trepy made his professional debut with Cagliari on January 8 in a Serie A match against Cremonese (2-2, matchday 19). The striker immediately made an impression by scoring a goal just four minutes after coming on.
