Denisot pays tribute to journalists removed from unrecognizable 'Équipe du Soir'

The return of L’Équipe du Soir on Tuesday turned into disillusionment for a large portion of the show’s loyal audience. While Olivier Ménard retained the hosting role, the profound changes made to the cast, set and format sparked an immediate negative reaction on social media.

“The channel bosses have literally killed their three shows with these new versions,” one viewer declared on X. Another, claiming thirteen years of loyalty, announced their departure: “No more duel, no more president, no more river… The show has lost all its substance and all its charm. I’m switching channels!”

Michel Denisot, former deputy chief executive of Canal+ and ex-president of PSG, publicly expressed his regrets. In a message posted on social media, he saluted the journalists who have left the air: Vincent Duluc, Bernard Lions, Grégory Schneider, Hervé Penot and Erik Bielderman. “Thank you to the journalists who informed us, entertained us, annoyed us, amused us… on L’Équipe du Soir and whom we sadly no longer see,” he wrote.

Erik Bielderman replied directly to him: “Remembering the good times, the laughs and even the few slip-ups that forge unforgettable memories. Thank you Michel.” An exchange that sounds like a farewell to a certain era of the show.
