Ødegaard's stray header catches police officer during Arsenal's title parade
Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard accidentally struck a police officer on the head with a football during the club's Premier League title parade through north London on Sunday. Teammates were heard laughing and calling for his arrest as the moment was captured on video.
Martin Ødegaard inadvertently made a police officer the unlikely victim of his celebrations during Arsenal’s title parade through north London on Sunday, 1 June, heading a ball off the open-top bus and directly onto the head of an officer standing below.
The Arsenal captain had been celebrating on the bus as it wound through the streets when he headed the ball toward the crowd. It missed its intended target and struck the officer squarely on the head, prompting Ødegaard to duck instinctively as the ball made contact.
The moment drew immediate laughter from his teammates on board. “Arrest him, arrest him,” one of them can be heard shouting in footage of the incident. Arsenal themselves leaned into the joke on social media, sharing the video with the caption: “On your head, Martin.”
The officer appeared uninjured by the wayward header, and the parade continued without further incident as the club celebrated winning the Premier League title.
