Kevin De Bruyne launched Belgium against Turkey in the Nations League on Friday, opening the scoring in the 10th minute for his 39th international goal in 127 appearances under the Red Devils jersey.

Started by manager Mark von Bommel, the Napoli midfielder was the catalyst for the decisive action. After recovering the ball on the left side in opponent territory, he exchanged a precise one-two with Dodi Lukebakio down the middle around thirty metres from goal, before infiltrating the box and finishing with a low right-footed shot.

This goal is De Bruyne’s first since the one he scored on 27 June against New Zealand in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. It comes in a delicate context for Belgium, who were beaten a few days earlier by France (0-1), and facing a Turkey already held to draws twice in this group phase.
