Four fighters secured UFC contracts at the Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 finale at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Tuesday, with Dana White admitting he was outvoted on at least one of those decisions.

The headline moment came when 21-year-old Smilla Sundell (3-0) earned her contract despite White’s reservations about her age and experience. Sundell had just defeated Aline Pereira — sister of UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira — by unanimous decision, overcoming a 15-year age gap against the 36-year-old. Matchmaker Mick Maynard pushed back on White’s instinct to send Sundell for more seasoning outside the UFC.

“Smilla, so I thought you had a great fight,” White said. “You obviously dominated. But you’re really young and I think you have nothing but time and you can get some more experience. Mick completely disagrees with me and thinks that you’re a serious talent in the women’s division. So, I’ve been outvoted tonight. Welcome to the UFC.”

The night opened with Gregory Foster (9-1) defeating Jason Asher (5-1) by unanimous decision in a back-and-forth flyweight bout that featured knockdowns from both fighters. White awarded Foster a contract and expressed rare enthusiasm for a 27-year-old prospect — though he initially and incorrectly described the Brazilian as 34, correcting himself at the post-fight press conference.

“I’ve never been this excited to see a 34-year-old come into the UFC,” White said before the correction. “You opened the show the way I love the show to be opened.”

Luis Francischinelli (7-1) made a strong case for himself in the welterweight bout against William Rentz (8-3), dropping his opponent with a left hook and finishing with punches for a first-round TKO. The 6-foot-6 Brazilian received a contract, with White joking: “You’re 7-1 now, you’re 170 pounds, you’re 10 feet tall. Another fun guy that I’m excited to watch fight in the UFC.”

The season finale’s main event, however, ended without a contract being awarded. Ilias Bulaid (9-1) lost a unanimous decision to Erick Visconde (18-3), whose dominant grappling performance drew boos from the crowd. White acknowledged Visconde’s technical ability but felt the performance fell short of what he expects from a main event on the season’s closing card.

“You put on a grappling masterclass tonight,” White told Visconde. “But you did not do what I expect to see in the main event in the last episode of the Contender. Not tonight, my friend.”

With Season 10 now complete, four fighters across flyweight, welterweight, and women’s divisions will join the UFC roster following the Tuesday night event.
