Dana White handed out five UFC contracts — one to each winner — after a finish-heavy Week 4 of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas on Tuesday night. Four of the five bouts ended before the final bell, headlined by a 15-second knockout that was the fastest finish of the evening.

Main event: Adam Darby def. Patrick Rivera (doctor’s stoppage, Round 3)

The night’s biggest favourite delivered. Adam Darby, a 4-to-1 betting favourite, methodically dismantled Patrick Rivera over three rounds with relentless low kicks and sharp punches. By the third round, Rivera’s face had absorbed significant damage and Darby had landed what would have been a record number of low kicks in a UFC welterweight contest — though Contender Series bouts do not count as official UFC fights. Referee Kerry Hatley called in the ringside doctor to examine Rivera’s eye midway through the round, and the fight was waved off.

Modestino Rodrigues def. Brandon Holmes (KO, 0:15, Round 1)

The most explosive moment of the night belonged to 22-year-old Brazilian Modestino Rodrigues, a former K-1 kickboxer who needed just 15 seconds to finish Brandon Holmes. Rodrigues landed a low leg kick before unleashing a blitz of punches that prompted the referee to intervene almost immediately, earning him a UFC contract in the process.

Silvestre Sanchez def. Liam McCracken (KO, Round 3)

Mexican lightweight Silvestre Sanchez overcame an awkward start against the quick-handed Liam McCracken to earn his contract in emphatic fashion. McCracken’s jab caused Sanchez early problems, but Sanchez wore him down with power shots and takedowns. In the third round, with McCracken already bloodied, Sanchez landed a thudding left hook to end the contest and make a statement as a potential rising star out of Mexico.

Gabriel Lorenco def. Charlie Cleveland (KO, Round 1)

Gabriel Lorenco punched his ticket to the UFC with a savage knockout of Charlie Cleveland, though the finish came with a degree of controversy. Cleveland appeared to be getting the better of the early exchanges before getting caught with a wild hook from Lorenco while circling out of a clinch. Cleveland briefly recovered but was ultimately stopped, with Lorenco earning the win and a UFC contract.

With all five winners receiving contracts, White’s decision reflected the quality of performances across the board on a night that rarely gave the judges much work to do.
