Da Fonseca overjoyed after Argentina reaches final, takes aim at England and Tuchel
Argentine consultant Omar Da Fonseca celebrated Argentina's qualification for the World Cup final after their semi-final victory over England, criticizing Thomas Tuchel's tactics and his "18 defenders."
Omar Da Fonseca made no attempt to hide his euphoria after Argentina’s victory over England in the World Cup semi-final, loudly celebrating the Albiceleste’s qualification for the final backstage on the set where he was working as a consultant.
Backstage footage shows the Argentine consultant exulting after his compatriots’ qualification, praising their qualities before launching a sharp attack on England. He particularly targeted Thomas Tuchel’s tactics, mocking him for his “18 defenders” — a reference to the ultra-defensive setup deployed by the England manager, which according to him changed the complexion of the match while Argentina was struggling. Da Fonseca even went so far as to concede, not without self-deprecation: “We’re rubbish.”
The celebration then continued on set, where Da Fonseca came to celebrate Lionel Messi and his teammates’ victory live, much to the dismay of presenter Darren Tulett. Despite the barbs, the atmosphere remained good-natured between the two men.
