Tracy Cortez has set her sights on more than a victory at UFC 329, declaring she intends to dominate Cong Wang in their flyweight prelim bout and use the performance as a springboard toward a title shot.

“I’m definitely training extremely hard to make a statement. Extremely hard,” Cortez said. “I know putting on a great performance in this fight could mean that with two more fights I could be next for that belt. Not just winning but dominating. And I’m going in there to dominate. Like I’m going in there to hurt these girls from here on out. I’m not just going to try to play it safe and, you know, wait till I win a round. Like I’m going to go in there to hurt these girls.”

The 32-year-old, who has been training harder than ever by her own account, also offered a pointed scouting report on Wang’s striking. “She’s either going to throw one hard punch or two hard punches,” Cortez said. “I personally think I’m faster. I think I throw a lot more volume. And I think my wrestling is going to also change a lot of how people think the fight is going to go and play out.”

Cortez enters the fight looking to bounce back from a submission loss to Erin Blanchfield in her previous outing. Wang, by contrast, arrives on a three-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Eduarda Moura by unanimous decision.

With the flyweight title picture in mind, Cortez is framing UFC 329 as the start of a new, more aggressive chapter — one where calculated patience gives way to finishing intent.
