Waldo Cortes-Acosta (17-4) and Johnny Walker (23-10, 1 NC) have been booked as the new main event for UFC Vegas 124 at the Meta APEX next Saturday, after Sean Brady was forced to withdraw injured from his originally scheduled welterweight headliner against Gabriel Bonfim.

The late reshuffling leaves Bonfim’s place on the card uncertain. The promotion was seeking a replacement opponent for him, though he may not be willing to accept a step down from the headline slot.

It also remains unclear whether Cortes-Acosta vs. Walker will be contested over five rounds or three, given the short-notice nature of the booking.

Cortes-Acosta arrives looking to arrest a two-fight losing streak after an impressive 8-1 run that carried him into the heavyweight top 10. Back-to-back decisions losses to Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov have stalled his momentum, but the Dominican heavyweight still carries notable knockout wins over Derrick Lewis, Shamil Gaziev, and Ante Delija on his recent record.

Walker, a longtime light heavyweight contender, made a statement move to heavyweight this past October, finishing Mick Parkin with a spectacular knee knockout at UFC 332. The Brazilian now steps into a main event slot at short notice, a significant test of whether his new weight class is a permanent home.

In the co-main event, top strawweight contenders Tatiana Suarez and Virna Jandiroba are still scheduled to meet, providing a high-stakes undercard anchor for the reshuffled card.
