City travel to Leipzig near full-strength as Semenyo misses Champions League trip
Manchester City flew to Germany on Tuesday with a 23-man squad for Wednesday's Champions League clash at RB Leipzig, with Antoine Semenyo the only senior absentee due to a knee injury sustained last month.
Manchester City arrived in Germany on Tuesday with a near fully-fit 23-man squad for their Champions League League Phase fixture against RB Leipzig on Wednesday, with Antoine Semenyo the sole senior player missing through injury.
The 26-year-old forward has been sidelined since picking up a knee problem last month and is not expected to return until December. Ryan McAidoo and Kaden Braithwaite were also absent from Tuesday’s training session at the CFA, though Floyd Samba was included in the group.
City head into the tie under pressure after back-to-back Premier League defeats that have left them three points behind leaders Arsenal in the domestic table. In Europe, Enzo Maresca’s side have collected six points from their opening three League Phase matches, and a victory at the Red Bull Arena would strengthen their position in the 36-team standings — they currently sit 10th — and move them firmly into contention for a top-eight finish that would guarantee direct passage to the last 16.
Maresca and Phil Foden were scheduled to address the media in Germany on Tuesday evening ahead of the 8pm kick-off.
City training squad: Donnarumma, Wint, Rulli, Bettinelli; Guehi, Gvardiol, Ait-Nouri, Dias, Khusanov, Reis, Lewis, Nunes, O’Reilly, Anderson, Kovacic, Fernandez, Foden, Ndiaye, Allan, Cherki, Doku, Samba, Haaland.
