Cherki shuts down tension rumours with Olise after goal against Belgium
After scoring in France's 4-1 Nations League victory over Belgium, Rayan Cherki publicly contradicted a report from L'Équipe claiming he had a strained relationship with Michael Olise.
Rayan Cherki addressed rumours of tension with Michael Olise on Monday evening at Stade de France, minutes after France’s commanding 4-1 Nations League win over Belgium.
Coming on in the second half, the Manchester City playmaker scored a goal before speaking to TF1 to deny an article published the previous day by L’Équipe, which suggested a difficult relationship between the two players. “My relationship with Olise? Contrary to what some might say, there’s real chemistry between us. You shouldn’t listen to everything that’s said in the press about all the players,” he said.
The former Lyon player also emphasised the cohesion of the squad managed by Zinedine Zidane: “I’ve rarely known a group that gets along so well, from the first player to the last. It’s amazing, and you can feel it on the pitch.”
France thus concluded this international break on a high note, with an authoritative victory that confirms the positive momentum of the Bleus under Zidane.
