Carvajal leaves Real Madrid for Getafe after passing medical
Free after his contract with Real Madrid ended, Dani Carvajal is set to join Getafe. The club's president, Angel Torres, confirmed that the medical examination has been passed and the agreement between the parties is finalized.
Dani Carvajal will wear Getafe’s colours, confirmed club president Angel Torres on Tuesday, specifying that the right-back has passed his medical and that « the agreement between the different parties is finalized ». Only an agreement between La Liga and the club remains to make the transfer official.
A historic figure at Real Madrid, Carvajal had never played for another Spanish club outside the Casa Blanca — except for his loan to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013-2014. Free of any commitment after his contract with the Spanish champions ended, the six-time UEFA Champions League winner joins a club located just thirteen kilometres from the capital.
According to newspaper AS, it was Getafe manager José Bordalas who took the initiative to contact Carvajal directly to present his sporting project and the central role he intended to give him, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. Arguments that apparently convinced the 33-year-old defender.
Torres nevertheless maintained a slight reservation: « All that remains is for La Liga and the club to reach an agreement. » An administrative formality that should not jeopardize a deal presented as virtually sealed. The official announcement is expected in the coming days.
