Carmouche and Bishop rematch for inaugural PFL women's flyweight title in Chicago
Liz Carmouche and Jena Bishop will meet in a rematch at PFL Chicago on October 16 at Wintrust Arena, with the inaugural PFL women's flyweight title — the first new belt since the PFL's merger with Most Valuable Promotions — on the line.
Liz Carmouche and Jena Bishop will collide for the inaugural PFL women’s flyweight championship at PFL Chicago on October 16 at Wintrust Arena, the Professional Fighters League announced. The bout marks the first new title introduced since the PFL’s merger with Most Valuable Promotions.
Carmouche (26-8) already holds a win over Bishop (11-3), having stopped her in the third round of their first meeting last August. The rematch gives Bishop a chance to reverse that result and claim the belt in the same city where the PFL has been building a growing fanbase.
Bishop has responded strongly to that defeat, recording back-to-back first-round stoppage victories over Borena Tsertsvadze and Ariane Lipski da Silva. Carmouche, meanwhile, has not stood still — she submitted Viviane Araujo in June to push her current winning streak to four fights.
PFL CEO John Martin framed the event as a landmark moment for the organisation. “Chicago has become an important market for PFL, and we’re excited to return with another championship event for our fans,” Martin said in a press release. “The inaugural PFL Women’s Flyweight World Championship is another milestone for our organisation and a testament to the incredible talent competing across our roster. Liz Carmouche and Jena Bishop have already proven they’re among the very best in the world, and there’s no better stage than Chicago to crown the first champion in this division.”
The October card will be the PFL’s second visit to Wintrust Arena and its first major Chicago event since the merger reshaped the promotion’s structure and ambitions. With both fighters carrying momentum into the rematch, the flyweight title fight shapes up as one of the more compelling women’s MMA bouts of the autumn calendar.
