The draw for the Carabao Cup third round is scheduled for Wednesday 26 August, with 32 teams set to learn their opponents after European-competing clubs join the competition at this stage.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are among the nine additional Premier League sides entering the tournament, having been kept back from the second round due to their continental commitments. Defending champions Manchester City are also in the draw, alongside clubs such as Chelsea and Tottenham who came in at the second round.

The draw will follow the conclusion of the second round tie between Preston and Everton, which kicks off at 8pm BST on Wednesday evening.

Because of the fixture congestion created by Champions League, Europa League and Conference League schedules, the third round will be spread across two midweeks. Ties are currently planned for September 7 and September 14, with all matches played as single-leg fixtures and winners advancing to the fourth round.

A total of 32 balls will feature in the draw — 23 second-round winners plus the nine Premier League clubs entering at this stage. Ball numbers are expected to be confirmed ahead of the draw itself.
