Four goals in eight minutes: PSG sets historic Champions League record
Against Villarreal, PSG scored four goals in just eight minutes through Joao Neves, Désiré Doué, Senny Mayulu and Fabian Ruiz, becoming the first team to lead 4-0 after 17 minutes in the competition's history.
PSG rewrote the Champions League record books on Monday evening on Villarreal’s pitch, scoring four goals in the space of eight minutes to establish an unprecedented mark in the competition’s history.
Joao Neves opened the scoring in the 9th minute, before Désiré Doué (12th), Senny Mayulu (13th) and Fabian Ruiz (17th) followed at a positively dizzying pace. Never had a team scored four goals so quickly in the history of the Champions League.
The Paris club also claims a second record: no team had ever displayed a four-goal advantage on the scoreboard before the 17th minute in the Champions League. A double entry into history for Luis Enrique’s men, whose match start will remain one of the most devastating ever produced on the European stage.
