Joao Cancelo is back at FC Barcelona. The Portuguese left-back, free of any contract after his departure from Al-Hilal, has signed a deal until 2029 and returns to the Catalan club for the third time in his career. Barcelona officially announced the move on Thursday afternoon through its official channels.

Cancelo had already worn the blaugrana colours during a loan from Manchester City in 2023-2024, before being transferred to Saudi Arabia. His return, this time on a permanent basis, places him under the orders of Hansi Flick, who had already been able to appreciate his qualities during their first collaboration. The club’s statement emphasizes that the German coach “will seek to get the best out of his immense talent”.

Earlier in the day, Barcelona also officially announced the loan of Aron Yaakobishvili, goalkeeper for the reserve team. The Hungarian joins Almeria, a Segunda División side, until June 30, 2027. The Andalusian club has a purchase option whose amount was not disclosed.

These two moves come as the Dominik Livakovic file remains pending. The Croatian international goalkeeper is reported to be in Barcelona’s sights, but no official announcement had yet been made at the time of the two announcements.
