Bruno Fernandes' Cheshire home robbed by masked gang during Man United's 4-1 loss to Como
Three masked intruders broke into Bruno Fernandes' £4 million Cheshire home on Wednesday evening while the Manchester United captain was in Italy for the club's Champions League defeat to Como. Police confirmed a burglary at the Nether Alderley address, with several items stolen.
Three masked burglars raided Bruno Fernandes’ £4 million home in Cheshire on Wednesday evening while the Manchester United captain was away in Italy for the club’s 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como. Cheshire Police confirmed a burglary at the Nether Alderley address at around 8.30pm — shortly after full-time — with a number of items stolen.
A neighbour raised the alarm after spotting three suspicious individuals in the area. According to police, the intruders are believed to have climbed over the rear garden fence, which borders woodland, before fleeing with valuables. Officers arrived within minutes, but found no trace of the suspects on the scene.
The break-in lasted less than five minutes. No members of Fernandes’ family were present at the property at the time. Despite the home being fitted with alarms, CCTV and an electric gate, the intruders managed to escape undetected.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 8.30pm on Wednesday 21 October, police were called to reports of suspicious activity at an address in the Alderley Park area of Nether Alderley. The caller reported three unknown men in the rear garden of a neighbouring property. Officers attended the scene and on arrival there was no trace of the suspects. However, officers discovered that there had been a burglary at the address and a number of items had been stolen.”
Detective Inspector David Jarvis, of Macclesfield Proactive CID, added: “This investigation is in its early stages at this time, and we’re committed to doing all we can to trace the people responsible. As part of our enquiries, we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the local area at the time and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious.”
Manchester United confirmed they are supporting Fernandes following the incident. The evening had already been a difficult one for the club, with the 4-1 defeat in Como representing one of their worst results of the season. Fernandes drew further attention after the match by appearing to publicly question the tactical approach of Como head coach Michael Carrick, his former United teammate.
United are next in action against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday, with manager pressure mounting following the heavy loss in Italy.
