Paul Pogba is closing in on a new destination. The 33-year-old midfielder, without a club since his contract with AS Monaco was terminated this summer, posted on Instagram on Wednesday a photo and video taken from Monaco’s training grounds, accompanied by a simple “Tic Tac” — a message that Neymar Junior was quick to validate in the comments.

The 2018 World Cup winner had played just 115 minutes in three appearances in the red and white jersey since joining Monaco last summer. A series of injuries made his contract, initially set to run until 2027, indefensible for the Principality club, which ended it two months ago.

Since then, Monaco has nonetheless maintained an agreement with the player’s entourage, allowing him to continue training and benefit from the club’s medical staff well beyond the transfer window closure in early September. It is therefore at La Turbie, ASM’s training center, that Pogba has continued his recovery in recent weeks.

Two options are emerging for what comes next. The MLS would hold real appeal for the former Manchester and Turin player, who maintains close ties with Miami — that is where he had worked with a personal fitness coach before joining Monaco last summer. Saudi Arabia represents the other serious option, a destination already familiar to Pogba on the business side.

The “Tic Tac” posted on social media suggests that a decision should not be long in coming.
