Bruno Barbier, the Man Behind PSG's Entrance Music, Dies at 67

Bruno Barbier, a discreet yet influential figure in Paris Saint-Germain’s history, died on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the age of 67 from cancer. The news was revealed by Le Parisien.

Arriving at the club at the start of the Canal+ era, Barbier held the position of marketing promotion manager from 1991 to 1996. He is credited with one of the most deeply rooted traditions in Parc des Princes culture: the choice of Phil Collins’ “Who Said I Would” as the entrance music for players taking the pitch, a ritual that still resonates through the stadium’s stands today.

“One of his achievements was initiating the entrance music for Paris Saint-Germain players when he began as marketing promotion manager at a club that had recently come under the Canal+ banner,” recalls Bruno Fraioli, co-founder of Sport Business Club, a structure that Barbier himself had helped create.

After his time at PSG, Bruno Barbier pursued a full career in the world of sport and media, notably serving as head of communications at Eurosport, before joining Lagardère Sport and then the PMU. He eventually co-founded the website SportBusiness.Club, dedicated to the economic issues of sport.
