Yassine Benhattab has permanently left FC Nantes to join Montpellier, announced the Hérault club. The 23-year-old Franco-Algerian attacking midfielder has signed with MHSC until 2029.

Benhattab had signed with the Canaries in August 2024, before being immediately loaned to Aubagne, in the National division. The previous season, the Marseille native had played ten matches in Ligue 1 with Nantes, then was loaned to Stade de Reims. He now joins Montpellier, third in Ligue 2, without ever having truly had the opportunity to establish himself in a Nantes shirt.

Nantes, currently bottom of Ligue 2, thus confirms another departure during this summer transfer window. The Loire club continues to offload elements of its squad as it seeks to bounce back after its relegation.

On Montpellier’s side, Benhattab has displayed clear ambitions upon his arrival. “I am very happy to be here and I hope we will have a good season,” he declared. “In terms of objectives, I hope that, collectively first, we will compete for the top of the table and why not get promoted.” The midfielder also clarified his personal ambitions: “I hope to bring my own touch and help the team by scoring and providing assists.”
