Beckham belts out Wonderwall with Romeo after England's 2-1 World Cup win over Norway
David Beckham joined thousands of jubilant supporters in singing the Oasis anthem after England sealed a 2-1 quarterfinal victory over Norway in Miami, with wife Victoria and sons Romeo and Cruz at his side — though eldest son Brooklyn was absent amid the ongoing family rift.
David Beckham celebrated England’s 2-1 World Cup quarterfinal win over Norway in Miami on Saturday night by throwing an arm around son Romeo and belting out Wonderwall alongside thousands of supporters, as the Oasis classic continued its run as the unofficial anthem of the 2026 tournament.
The former England captain was joined in the stands by wife Victoria and younger children Romeo, Cruz, and Harper for the tense victory that booked the Three Lions a place in the semi-finals. Eldest son Brooklyn was absent, however, and his non-appearance came just a day after he also missed Harper’s 15th birthday celebrations in West Palm Beach — the latest visible sign that the well-documented rift between Brooklyn and the rest of the Beckham family has not healed.
Before kick-off, Beckham had already caught the attention of social media users when stadium cameras picked him out delivering a notably passionate rendition of God Save the King beside Victoria. The clip circulated widely, with one user on X joking that the broadcast director’s decision to focus on Beckham was justified “because we all know that’s the king we’re really singing about.” Others remarked on the rarity of Victoria attending a match at all, with one fan writing, “You know it’s serious for David Beckham tonight if he managed to convince Victoria to watch a match.”
The evening followed Beckham’s decision to open Inter Miami’s Florida Blue Training Center in Fort Lauderdale to the England squad on Friday, giving Gareth Southgate’s side access to his MLS club’s facilities ahead of the Norway fixture.
England’s narrow win over Erling Haaland’s Norway sets up a semi-final berth, and Beckham’s visible enthusiasm — from the national anthem through to the full-time Wonderwall singalong — provided one of the more shareable moments of the night, even as the absence of Brooklyn added a quieter, more complicated note to the family’s evening in the stands.
