The Premier League transfer window shuts on Tuesday, 1 September, and several high-profile deals remain unresolved as clubs scramble to strengthen their squads in the final days.

Bradley Barcola to Liverpool

The search for Mohamed Salah’s long-term replacement has dominated Liverpool’s summer. PSG winger Bradley Barcola, 23, has asked to leave the Parc des Princes and is reportedly being left out of Luis Enrique’s squad. Reports this week suggest the two clubs have agreed a deal in principle, making this one of the window’s most imminent moves.

Julian Alvarez to Arsenal

One of the summer’s most drawn-out sagas, Julian Alvarez has made clear he wants to leave Atletico Madrid. Tensions boiled over this week when the club’s supporters loudly jeered the former Manchester City forward, while Atletico issued a public warning to Barcelona to stay away. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is understood to be keen, though a move depends on Alvarez being willing to relocate to North London.

Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa

After a season on loan at Bayern Munich, Nicolas Jackson was absent from Chelsea’s opening-day squad against Fulham, signalling his exit is imminent. With Ollie Watkins reportedly on the verge of a move to Saudi Arabia, Aston Villa have identified the Senegalese forward as his replacement. A fee of around £65 million is said to be close to being agreed.

Cody Gakpo to Tottenham

Tottenham have been one of the window’s most active clubs, already securing Savio from Manchester City with Omar Marmoush set to follow. They are also pursuing Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, though face competition from City. Whether Gakpo departs Anfield may hinge directly on Liverpool completing the Barcola deal — if the PSG winger arrives, Liverpool are expected to sanction Gakpo’s exit.

Emi Martinez to Chelsea

Chelsea’s activity is not limited to attacking positions. Reports have linked Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez with a move to Stamford Bridge as the club looks to reshape its squad across multiple positions before the deadline.

The Bigger Picture

The final hours of any transfer window tend to produce the most dramatic movement, and this summer is no different. Beyond the headline names, Premier League clubs at every level of the table are expected to pursue late deals — including potential transfers between top-flight sides — as the 1 September cut-off approaches. All 20 clubs are anticipated to remain active until the window closes.
