Atlético Madrid refuses all offers for Álvarez, even at €200 million
Atlético Madrid president Miguel Angel Gil has publicly ruled out any transfer of Julián Álvarez this summer, rejecting in advance any proposal — including at €200 million — despite persistent interest from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Atlético Madrid has issued an unequivocal ultimatum: Julián Álvarez will not leave the club during the next summer transfer window, regardless of the amount offered. President Miguel Angel Gil stated this publicly, directly targeting FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, who are multiplying their approaches for the Argentine striker.
“My position is clear, as is the club’s: we have made this known to the player, his agent and the Barcelona president,” Gil said in a video posted on the club’s social media. The executive then put a figure on his refusal to end all speculation: “We will not accept any offer of 100, 150 or even 200 million for Julián Álvarez.”
Under contract until June 30, 2030, Álvarez is described by his president as “the perfect striker for Atlético.” Gil also responded to a recent statement from the Barcelona president, who had suggested that the Catalan offer was “not infinite”: “The only possible answer is that our answer is infinite: we do not want to transfer him.”
These statements come as Álvarez is about to play in the Copa America final with Argentina, on Sunday against Spain. Despite reports of the player being attracted to the Barcelona project, the Madrid management intends to leave no room for negotiation with its rivals.
