Arsenal agree £8.57m deal to sell Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona after three seasons
Arsenal have reached an agreement to sell Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona for £8.57 million, with further add-ons possible. The 29-year-old Brazilian forward had been frozen out of Mikel Arteta's squad this season after being made available for transfer.
Arsenal have agreed a fee of £8.57 million with Barcelona for the transfer of Gabriel Jesus, ending the forward’s three-year spell at the Emirates Stadium. The deal includes potential add-ons, and Jesus is expected to complete the move to La Liga before the transfer window closes.
The 29-year-old had been training away from Mikel Arteta’s first team and was absent from both of Arsenal’s matchday squads this season after being formally made available for sale. Napoli were among the clubs linked with the Brazilian during the summer, but Arsenal’s asking price had previously deterred potential suitors.
Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 in a move widely regarded as a statement of the club’s ambitions. He made a promising start in north London, but a combination of injuries and growing competition for places gradually reduced his role in the squad. Across 123 appearances for the Gunners, he scored 32 goals and contributed 22 assists.
His move to Barcelona represents a significant change of scenery for a player who, at his best, offers pressing intensity, technical quality, and versatility across the front line. Whether he can rediscover that form at the Camp Nou will be one of the more intriguing subplots of the new La Liga season.
