Akliouche calls PSG 'greatest club in the world' and welcomes their interest
While competing in the 2026 World Cup with France, AS Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche acknowledged being flattered by Paris Saint-Germain's interest, describing them as the 'greatest club in the world', while insisting he remains focused on the tournament.
Maghnes Akliouche made no attempt to dampen the rumours. Questioned from the United States where he is competing in the 2026 World Cup with the France national team, the AS Monaco attacking midfielder confirmed Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in him and acknowledged his reaction to their approach.
“PSG’s interest? Of course it’s flattering that the greatest club in the world is interested in you. It can only be wonderful for me!”, the 24-year-old player said in an interview with Figaro. However, he was reluctant to elaborate further, emphasising his current priority: “I want to have a great World Cup, to focus on this childhood dream and to perform when I get the opportunity.”
PSG, two-time defending European champions, are reportedly targeting two attacking profiles for this summer’s transfer window: Akliouche, and young Ivorian Yan Diomandé. A Monaco-linked pursuit that comes as no surprise given the player’s profile as one of Ligue 1’s breakout stars in recent seasons.
On the contract front, the situation leaves limited room for manoeuvre in the short term: Akliouche is tied to AS Monaco until June 2028. Transfermarkt values him at €50 million, a fee that should frame negotiations should PSG make a concrete offer after the World Cup.
