Williams dresses its cars in Union Jack colours for Silverstone home race
Williams has revealed a Union Jack-inspired livery for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, running from 3 to 5 July. The redesign adds red, white and blue accents to the team's usual bold blue scheme, with Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz also wearing matching race suits.
Williams has unveiled a special Union Jack-inspired livery for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, where the Grove-based team will race on home soil from 3 to 5 July 2025.
The new design retains the team’s signature bold blue base but adds red, white and blue accents across the nose cone and chassis sides. Drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will wear matching race suits carrying the same colour scheme throughout the weekend.
“We are proud to be flying the flag for the British GP this week,” said team principal James Vowles. “From our first win to our 100th, Silverstone has played host to some of Atlassian Williams F1 Team’s most iconic moments — and there is nothing on the F1 calendar quite like the atmosphere of the home crowd here. Whether watching in the grandstands, supporting at the Fan Zone or cheering us on from home, we really feel the energy of the fans and will be carrying it with us all weekend.”
A limited merchandise line accompanies the livery launch, with items including a T-shirt priced at £74, a polo shirt at £83, a cap at £41, and a jacket at £130.
The reveal has generated a mixed response from fans online. Some have praised the restraint of the design, while others felt the team could have leaned further into the patriotic theme for such a significant home fixture.
The livery arrives at a challenging moment for the team on track. Williams currently sits eighth in the constructors’ championship with 11 points after a difficult start to the 2026 season. Sainz, who joined Williams in 2025 following his replacement at Ferrari by seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton, is 14th in the drivers’ standings with six points. Albon sits one place behind in 15th with five points.
