Welsh rugby mourns RGC player Jack Davies after sudden death at 24
The Welsh Rugby Union, RGC, and Super Rygbi Cymru have paid tribute to Jack Davies, a 24-year-old RGC player who died suddenly. Davies had returned to RGC and Clwb Rygbi Caernarfon in 2023 after studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
The Welsh Rugby Union has expressed its condolences following the sudden death of RGC player Jack Davies, aged 24, with tributes pouring in from across the Welsh rugby community.
Davies was described as a key part of both the RGC and Clwb Rygbi Caernarfon family. He had first caught attention at Caernarfon at a young age before earning a place in the RGC Pathway, and returned to both clubs in 2023 after completing a degree in physical education at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
“The Welsh Rugby Union is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of RGC player Jack Davies,” the WRU said in a statement. “Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Jack’s family, friends, teammates and everyone at RGC at this incredibly difficult time.”
RGC echoed that grief in their own tribute. “He was a key part of the RGC and CR Caernarfon family, and his death is a devastating loss for everyone associated with both clubs,” the club said. “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends, teammates and everyone who knew him during this difficult time.”
Super Rygbi Cymru also issued a statement, saying the entire competition’s community “stands together in grief and support” and extending its condolences to Davies’ family, friends, and teammates at RGC.
