Vitinha hopes for Ronaldo's return to Portugal after dramatic exit
A few weeks after Cristiano Ronaldo's dramatic departure from the Portuguese national team, PSG midfielder Vitinha expressed hope for the star's return, saying it is "what we all want".
Vitinha took a stance on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with the Portuguese national team, expressing hope for the striker’s return following his unauthorized departure during the latest Nations League international window.
Questioned Wednesday evening after Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-4 victory at Manchester City (Matchday 2 of the Champions League), the midfielder acknowledged that the international window had been “eventful” and “full of strong emotions” for Portugal. He then clearly expressed his wishes for what comes next: “As far as I’m concerned, I simply hope that everything will eventually work out. I hope that Cristiano Ronaldo will return and that everything will get back to normal.” The PSG player added that he was speaking on behalf of the group: “In truth, that’s what we all want.”
Recap of events: Ronaldo hastily left the Seleção, upset by the coach’s decision to leave him on the bench during a Nations League match against Norway. This unauthorized departure resulted in a formal complaint from the Portuguese federation. His public explanations for his actions also sparked strong reactions in the country.
The question of his return remains open. Portuguese internationals will rejoin the national team in November for the continuation of the Nations League, and uncertainty remains about whether CR7 will be included in the squad called up by the coach.
