USMNT to host both Nations League legs against Haiti in Miami and Cincinnati
The United States will play both legs of their Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal against Haiti on home soil in November, after Concacaf granted Haiti an exemption due to ongoing security concerns in the country.
The United States men’s national team will face Haiti entirely on American soil in the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals next month, after the sport’s regional governing body granted an exemption allowing Haiti to stage its designated home leg outside the Caribbean.
Concacaf confirmed on Thursday that the “away” leg will be played on 14 November at Nu Stadium in Miami — the $1 billion Inter Miami venue that opened earlier this year — before the decisive second match moves to TQL Stadium in Cincinnati three days later. The series winner advances to the four-team Nations League finals in Los Angeles in March.
Haiti was originally scheduled to host the first leg in Kingston, Jamaica, having already been unable to use its own territory due to persistent security concerns. Following an appeal from the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), Concacaf overrode the standard FIFA rule that prevents competitive two-legged internationals from being played entirely within one competing nation’s borders. South Florida, home to the largest Haitian expatriate population in the United States, was chosen as the alternative venue.
“Under this exceptional arrangement, the FHF may be permitted to play its designated home matches in Concacaf-sanctioned competitions in the territory of its opponents, rather than being limited to the Caribbean region as required under the current regulations,” Concacaf said in a statement. “This flexibility will remain in place for as long as the security situation in Haiti persists.”
For the USMNT, these fixtures represent their first competitive matches since the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Despite the logistical advantage of playing on familiar ground, the USA will not be taking Haiti lightly. Although the Americans have won each of their last three meetings with Les Grenadiers — including in the first round of the 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup — all three victories came by a single goal against the FIFA-ranked 84th-placed side.
Haiti arrive having made history at the 2026 World Cup, recording their first appearance at the tournament in more than half a century. Drawn into a group alongside Scotland, 2022 semifinalists Morocco, and five-time champions Brazil, they were eliminated without a win — but the experience underlines how far the programme has developed. The USA, ranked 16th in the world, will be expected to progress, but the narrow margins of recent history suggest the tie is far from a formality.
