Unbeaten Montague puts perfect 8-0 record on the line against Cavalcanti at UFC Qatar
Michelle Montague, who has finished six opponents by rear-naked choke, will face Jacqueline Cavalcanti in a women's bantamweight bout at UFC Qatar on 21 November at ABHA Arena in Doha.
Michelle Montague will risk her unblemished 8-0 record against Jacqueline Cavalcanti in a women’s bantamweight contest at UFC Qatar on 21 November at ABHA Arena in Doha, the UFC has announced.
Montague, 8-0, turned professional in 2022 after an amateur career and made an immediate impression by finishing her first six opponents by rear-naked choke. The New Zealander, a former Professional Fighters League competitor, joined the UFC last year and has since added decision victories over Luana Carolina and Mayra Bueno Silva to her record.
Cavalcanti arrives with a 10-2 mark and a formidable UFC résumé of her own. The Brazilian won her first five bouts inside the promotion, collecting decision victories over Nora Cornolle, Julia Avila and former title challenger Bueno Silva, before dropping a decision to Ketlen Vieira in May.
The matchup pits Montague’s unbroken finishing streak and upward momentum against Cavalcanti’s experience at the top end of the division, making it one of the more compelling women’s bantamweight bouts the UFC has put together outside of a title context.
Montague vs. Cavalcanti is currently the only women’s bout confirmed for the UFC Qatar card.
