Two-time champion Moreno faces TUF 33 winner Morales at Noche UFC 4 to halt three-fight slide
Former two-time UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno, on a run of two consecutive losses, will meet unbeaten TUF 33 winner Joseph Morales at Noche UFC 4 on September 12 in Glendale, Arizona.
Former two-time UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno will look to arrest a damaging losing streak when he faces TUF 33 winner Joseph Morales at Noche UFC 4 on September 12 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck confirmed the matchup through sources with knowledge of the bout, which was first reported by HEAVY.
Moreno (23-10-2) arrives at the fight having lost back-to-back bouts to Lone’er Kavanagh and Tatsuro Taira, and has won just two of his last six contests. His most recent outing, a five-round defeat to Kavanagh in February, was particularly sobering — it came with the opportunity to compete in his native Mexico and ended in a one-sided points loss.
Morales (14-2) represents a stern test for the struggling veteran. The 29-year-old won The Ultimate Fighter 33 at flyweight and has gone 2-0 in his second UFC stint, submitting both Matt Schnell and Alibi Idris. He has now strung together five consecutive victories since his first run with the promotion ended in 2018.
The card is shaping up as a significant flyweight showcase. Former women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso has already been confirmed to face Manon Fiorot, though a headlining bout for the event has yet to be announced.
