Aiemann Zahabi is honouring a piece of Georges St-Pierre’s championship legacy, confirming he still retreats backstage after every UFC bout to dissect his performance with coach and brother Firas Zahabi — the same ritual GSP followed throughout his title reign.

The practice came back into public view after a clip resurfaced of St-Pierre heading backstage to review footage immediately after defending his UFC welterweight title against Josh Koscheck in 2010. Aiemann responded directly to the video, making clear the tradition has never stopped.

“Firas and I have kept this alive, we go over my mistakes after each fight whether I won or lost!” Aiemann wrote.

Firas Zahabi is widely credited with architecting St-Pierre’s career, which ended with a record of 26-2. GSP defended the welterweight title nine times before vacating it in 2013, then returned after a four-year absence in 2017 to defeat Michael Bisping and claim the middleweight championship before retiring.

The commitment to honest self-assessment after every fight — win or lose — was a hallmark of St-Pierre’s longevity and consistency at the top of the sport, and Aiemann’s comments suggest it remains a cornerstone of how the Zahabi camp operates.

Aiemann himself enters this period of reflection at a difficult moment. The bantamweight, now 14-3, is coming off a knockout loss to Sean O’Malley at UFC 250 Freedom that ended a seven-fight winning streak. Continuing the post-fight review process regardless of outcome is, by his own account, precisely the point.
