Tunisia plummets 12 places in FIFA rankings after catastrophic 2026 World Cup
Three defeats in as many matches, zero points and a goal difference of -10: Tunisia is the nation that falls the most in the FIFA rankings following the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, dropping from 45th to 57th place.
Tunisia emerges from the 2026 World Cup with the heaviest drop in the FIFA rankings among all teams eliminated in the group stage, losing twelve places to settle at 57th in the world.
The Eagles of Carthage suffered three defeats in three matches — 5-1 against Sweden, 4-0 against Japan and 3-1 against the Netherlands — to finish with zero points and a goal difference of -10. They join Haiti, Iraq, Jordan, Uzbekistan and Panama in the group of teams that left the group stage empty-handed.
Only Iraq displays an even darker record, with a goal difference of -11. But it is the squad managed by Hervé Renard that suffers the most brutal drop in the world hierarchy, ahead of Panama, Uzbekistan and Iraq, all declining by ten places.
Czech Republic (-8 places) and South Korea (-7 places) complete the picture of nations most penalized by the FIFA rankings update following the competition.
