Trailfinders bolster Women's Premiership squad with Netherlands back-row Isa Prins
Trailfinders Women have signed 23-year-old Netherlands international Isa Prins ahead of the 2026/27 Premiership Women's Rugby season. The versatile back-row joins a growing roster that already includes Ruby Tui, Bo Westcombe-Evans, Helen Nelson, and Canada's Laetitia Royer.
Trailfinders Women have signed Netherlands back-row Isa Prins, the West London club confirmed, as head coach Barney Maddison continues to reshape his squad ahead of the 2026/27 Premiership Women’s Rugby season.
The 23-year-old arrives having most recently impressed at the WXV Global Series Challenger 2026 in Hong Kong, where she helped the Netherlands finish second in the six-team tournament — Fiji claiming the title with a last-gasp penalty on the final day. Across her three appearances at Kai Tak Sports Ground, Prins made 51 tackles, carried the ball 19 times for 62 metres, and stole two lineouts.
Prins previously had a spell in England with Harlequins during the 2024/25 season, making two appearances before her release. Her ability to operate across both the second row and back row was a key factor in Trailfinders’ interest.
“Isa is a dynamic forward that gives us great options in both the second and back-row,” Maddison said. “Her versatility is something that will benefit the squad massively and we can’t wait to have her in training with the team coming off the back of what has been a very successful WXV Global Series for Isa with the Netherlands.”
Prins is the latest in a string of high-profile arrivals at Trailfinders. Maddison has also recruited Women’s Rugby World Cup winner Ruby Tui, England international Bo Westcombe-Evans, and Scotland playmaker Helen Nelson.
Her signing followed closely on the heels of Canada international Laetitia Royer joining the club. The 35-year-old lock, a member of the 2024 World Rugby Women’s 15s Dream Team of the Year, made four appearances at Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 as Canada finished as runners-up. In her first PWR season, Royer made 10 appearances for Saracens as the North London side won the league final at the Twickenham Stoop.
“Laetitia is a fantastic player and we’re delighted to have been able to acquire her,” Maddison said. “She’s currently showing her quality in the ongoing WXV Global Series and we’ve seen firsthand what she can do in the PWR.”
With the 2026/27 season still some way off, Trailfinders’ recruitment drive signals clear ambitions to challenge at the top of the Premiership Women’s Rugby table.
