Thierno Barry scores brace and guides Everton to convincing victory against Coventry
Author of a brace and an assist on Friday night, Thierno Barry led Everton to a 3-1 victory against Coventry in the opening match of Matchday 10 in the Premier League. The French striker now has six goals this season, the second-best scorer behind Haaland.
Thierno Barry was the architect of Everton’s victory against Coventry (3-1) on Friday night, in the opening match of Matchday 10 in the Premier League. The French striker scored two goals and provided an assist to drive his team forward.
The match had started badly for the Toffees. Former Toulouse player Yann Gboho opened the scoring for the visitors in the 52nd minute. Barry then took matters into his own hands: he equalized in the 56th minute, before giving Everton the advantage five minutes later (61st). He then set up Kieran Dewsbury-Hall for the 3-1 goal in the 81st minute.
This brace brings Barry’s total to six goals since the start of the season, making him the second-best scorer in the Premier League at this stage, behind only Erling Haaland, who is credited with nine goals.
This result follows another decisive performance by Barry last Monday, when he scored the winning goal away at Newcastle (0-1). In the space of a week, the Frenchman has established himself as one of the most prominent strikers in the English championship.
