Chaîne L’Équipe launched its new football talk-show, Téléfoot L’After, on Sunday at 11:55 a.m., presented by Grégoire Margotton. The programme is intended as a continuation of TF1’s Sunday show, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this season.

From its first broadcast, the programme’s title sparked reactions on social media. The similarity to L’After Foot, the late-night show hosted by Gilbert Brisbois on RMC, did not go unnoticed by viewers. Brisbois himself had challenged the sports daily on his X account on Saturday, before the broadcast even aired. Several internet users even spoke of “plagiarism”.

Grégoire Margotton explained the concept to La Provence: “The idea is to have a complement to Téléfoot with our DNA and that of Chaîne L’Équipe. It’s a new appointment at a time slot that isn’t easy. I won’t talk more than on Téléfoot, that’s not my role. In addition to Bixente Lizarazu and the channel’s journalists, we’ll have a cast that will evolve throughout the season.”

For this first edition, the 56-year-old journalist was joined by Bixente Lizarazu, Séverine Parlakou, Thomas Mekhiche, Virginie Sainsily and Giovanni Castaldi. The panel composition is set to change over the coming weeks.
