Luis Enrique Extended Until 2030 at PSG with Salary Jumping to €20M

Paris Saint-Germain officially confirmed Friday the contract extension of Luis Enrique until 2030, announced at Parc des Princes during the match against AS Monaco. Five players — Lucas Beraldo, Senny Mayulu, João Neves, Willian Pacho and Fabian Ruiz — simultaneously extended their deals with the club.

The decision came as no surprise for the Asturian coach, who has become one of the main architects of Paris’s renewal. After leading PSG to a second consecutive Ligue des Champions title, Luis Enrique enjoyed complete backing from his board. It is now contractually secured until summer 2030.

It is the financial dimension of the agreement that stands out. According to L’Équipe, the Spanish coach’s salary would increase from €12 to €20 million gross per season, a two-thirds increase in a single amendment. A raise that did not escape Spanish media attention.

The Iberian press reacted with a certain astonishment. The newspaper AS headlines that “PSG is throwing money out the window” and evokes “a salary that soars to the clouds”. Cadena SER sees in it the mark of total confidence from Nasser al-Khelaïfi in his coach, and believes this extension could allow Luis Enrique to establish himself durably in the club’s history. The newspaper Sport recalls that he is now “the most decorated coach” in Paris’s history. El Nacional goes further still, claiming that the Qatari president was “forced to go crazy to prevent Luis Enrique from signing with Barcelona”.

Whatever the reality of this Barcelona prospect, PSG has clearly chosen to secure its coach at one of Europe’s highest compensation levels. Since his arrival, the club has won two consecutive Ligue des Champions titles, a record that justifies, in the eyes of the Paris board, this investment.
