Suspended for last season's red card, Camavinga misses Real Madrid-Inter
Eduardo Camavinga is absent from Real Madrid's squad for their Champions League home match against Inter Milan, suspended due to a red card received in last season's quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich. Arda Güler and Bernardo Silva are also unavailable for the same reason.
Eduardo Camavinga will not play in Real Madrid-Inter Milan this Tuesday in the Champions League, the first match of the league phase for the Merengues. The French midfielder is suspended following the red card he received in last season’s quarter-final second leg, a loss to Bayern Munich (4-3).
Camavinga is neither injured nor disciplined by José Mourinho: it is the automatic suspension linked to his expulsion that prevents him from playing in this match at the Bernabéu. He had nevertheless been a starter on Saturday during Real Madrid’s defeat at Real Betis in La Liga (1-0, matchday 4).
He is not alone in serving this sentence inherited from last season’s European campaign. Arda Güler, also sent off in that same quarter-final second leg against Bayern, is absent for the same reasons. Bernardo Silva, signed this summer from Manchester City, is also suspended and will not play on the Madrid pitch.
Among those present, Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior and Yan Diomandé are in the squad. Aurélien Tchouaméni and Endrick are making their return after recent absences. On the other hand, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Raul Asencio and Ferland Mendy remain sidelined for unspecified reasons, extending long-standing unavailability.
This match is the main fixture of the first matchday of the Champions League league phase, which resumes this Tuesday. Lille also hosts Real Betis later in the evening.
