Stroll cruises Monaco in one of 22 ultra-rare £3m Aston Martin DBR22s during F1 summer break
Lance Stroll was spotted driving a £3 million Aston Martin DBR22 speedster through Monaco during the F1 summer break. Only 22 of the open-cockpit V12s were ever built, with values now estimated between £2.5m and £3m.
Lance Stroll turned heads on the streets of Monaco during the Formula 1 summer break, photographed at the wheel of an Aston Martin DBR22 — one of just 22 examples ever produced and now valued at between £2.5 million and £3 million.
The open-cockpit speedster was introduced in 2022 to mark a decade of Aston Martin’s bespoke Q division, drawing design inspiration from the DBR1 that won the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans. Under the bodywork sits a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 producing 705 horsepower and 752Nm of torque, enough to carry the car from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 198 mph. Original asking prices started at approximately £1.5 million before customisation; the cars have since roughly doubled in value on the secondary market.
According to VIP Fortunes, the DBR22 is one of several high-end machines in the 27-year-old Canadian’s collection, which also includes an Aston Martin Vantage, a Mercedes-AMG GT R, a Ferrari California, and a Lamborghini Huracán.
The Monaco sighting comes at a turbulent moment in Stroll’s racing career. Aston Martin entered the 2026 F1 season with considerable optimism, having secured a new power unit partnership with Honda and fielded its first car developed under the guidance of Adrian Newey. Those expectations quickly gave way to frustration: the AMR26 suffered reliability problems that contributed to 11 retirements or non-finishes shared between Stroll and two-time champion Fernando Alonso across the opening half of the season.
The team introduced a revised B-spec car at the Hungarian Grand Prix, where both drivers at least reached the finish — Stroll in 13th and Alonso in 14th. It was a modest step forward, but Aston Martin still sits 10th in the constructors’ championship with a single point, ahead only of the newly formed Cadillac entry.
