Six new faces in Morocco's squad for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
Coach Mohamed Ouahbi has called up 29 players for September's international window, including six first-time selections, with injuries ruling out Chadi Riad, Youssef Belammari and Ayoub El Kaabi.
Mohamed Ouahbi unveiled on Thursday a squad of 29 players for the upcoming fixtures for the Lions of the Atlas: two matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Gabon and Lesotho, as well as a friendly against Ghana.
The selection is marked by the integration of six newcomers. Abdellah Ouazane, Alaa Bellarouch, Soufiane El Faouzi, Ali Maamar, Yassir Zabiri and Tawfik Bentayeb earn their first-ever call-up with the Lions of the Atlas. These selections follow injuries to Chadi Riad, Youssef Belammari and Ayoub El Kaabi, who will miss the gathering.
Despite their suspensions for the first match against Gabon, Achraf Hakimi and Ismaël Saibari are included in the squad. Ouahbi has also retained Ayyoub Bouaddi, who has played for Lille, Marseille’s Nayef Aguerd and Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, confirming the depth of a squad that reached the quarter-finals of the last World Cup.
